Loan package

Post by Merlion »

hi

I am almost close to getting a prpoerty, planning to get a bank loan.

In your opinion, is there a bank to recommend? Which bank in Singapore offers better rates?

Thanks for your help!

Dear Merlion,

thanks for your question.

There're many, many Housing Loan packages out there, each with different features, eg. there's Floating Rate Packages, Fixed Rate Packages (fixed 1 year to 10 years), Interest Offset Packages and so on.

Each package comes with different conditions, eg. length of penalty period; flexibility on making partial prepayment and so forth.

Furthermore, for different types of properties, there're different packages. Even for same type of properties (eg. Private Residential properties), the interest rates charge may differ due to difference in Loan amount.

thus, you can see by now that what is the "best" package actually differ from person to person. The most suitable package for Mr A might be not suitable for Mr B. The interest rates available for someone with a loan amount of $1 milion might differ from another with a $100,000 loan.

There is only one bank offering no lock-in feature and i havent found out their interest rate. am expecting it to be higher than the usual 3.5-3.75.

This feature is an advantage for someone with the intention of paying up the loan earlier. Is this correct?
