Personally, I would sell silver when 50 day MA of Silver crosses down 200 day MA of silver, regardless of what is happening to stocks, oil and other investments.
Cheers!

No. It's already shared in another discussion thread under "Technical Analysis", can seminar graduates please look around in forum, eg. use the Search button first before creating any discussion thread that may already exist.

thanks to seminar graduate Hendra for sharing this in a posting, I put it here for easy reference for everyone.

Dennis, can you elaborate more why you would do that?
I want to understand more.
Thank you.

Market trend of Silver might be different and not correlated to market trend of say, stocks.

Why? As taught in my seminar, the 200 day is almost 1 year of trading. While 50 day is almost 2 months of trading, so when 50 day MA crosses down 200 day MA, there is a very high chance of a change in trend, from uptrend to downtrend.

This 50 day MA and 200 day MA can be used for almost all everything, be it stocks, stock index, gold, silver etc...

Of course do NOT use any TA blindly. eg. In May 2011, after 2 months of markets falling, 50 day MA did cut 200 day MA, so we might want to wait for a few trading days (eg. more than 10 trading days that 50 day MA remains below 200 day MA before taking action).

Furthermore, I do NOT decide based on TA alone, I also consider the FA and PA (Psychological Analysis) before making a final decision.

one can decide the time to buy when 50 Day MA cut 100 day MA up from below.

looking at the silver chart..the 50 MA is actually below the 100 MA...but the 50 MA looks like going to cut the 100 MA from below liao(they are converging)...it's a bullish sign..isn't it?

cheers,
jason.

Try using EMA 50/100. You will see that 50EMA is already above 100EMA..

Hi cllau34,

Here's an article that compares SMA vs EMA.

http://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers ... z1VreNtBfX

To be kiasu, i use EMA for early signal on direction. i also compare it with SMA for more "confirmation".

cheers
