Hi Lootster,
you can buy Ishares Silver on U.S. market through Singapore stock broking firms such as through POEMS platform by Philip Securities.

For Silver, I invested through UOB Silver Saving Account, annual fees work out to be about 0.5%, which is reasonable and not too high. You also avoid GST through ETF and UOB, while buying physical Silver there is GST involved.
Cheers!

Hi Dennis and everybody,

Ishares Silver may be good to do trading but not good for investing. Reason is u need 200 to 300k USD so tat they wil insure u in case they go bust. In other words, u can demand them for the pure physical silver.

Downside of buying physical silver is pay GST but at least u own something physical. If we ever go Armageddon or war like the show in Ip-Man, can exchange for rice to feed family :D

which is why I prefer UOB Silver Savings account. Banks do not collapse overnight, before UOB ever goes into trouble, there is enough time to withdraw money and close the account.

simple. ALL Banks typically first start reporting losses...banks report their results once every 3 months. Typically it takes the bank more than 1 year of reporting increasing losses before they might be in trouble. Even Lehman Brothers did NOT collapse overnight, it started reporting losses about 1 year before its eventual collapse.

There is sufficient time to detect and withdraw your money.
