on CPF interest and can you transfer OA balance to Medisave?

Post by Dennis Ng »

Someone asked:"can someone transfer money from OA or SA to Medisave?

My comments: No. if a person has run out of Medisave due to medical expenses, need to pay in cash, cannot transfer money from OA or SA to top up Medisave.

Someone asked:"if I invest my cpf money in oct, will I lose the interest for the year? (since interest is only credited in dec)."

My comments: interest is credited once a year in the month of Dec. However, interest is calculated every month, based on the lowest balance of the account (whether OA, SA or Medisave) of that month. So in the situation you mentioned, you can still earn interest for this amount invested from Jan to Sep....you do not "forgo" or lose the interest you can earn from Jan to Sep.

The above is not an opinion. The above is posted after double-checking with CPF Board myself.

Hope the above clarifies.
Cheers!
