Post by Dennis Ng »

one of my "sifus" said:"Dennis, you're wasting your time, teaching the average person about the Mindset of the Rich. Most of them their minds are closed, they will never change, they don't even appreciate that you're trying to help them and they cannot accept what you teach..."

Tonight, suddenly I felt this way too, maybe I should just stop doing all these teaching and just keep my family company, why stayed up late to answer questions, why sacrifice most of my precious weekends and precious Family Time to teach?

As you might know, I don't work for money and already have enough to retire. Earning another million more or not does NOT motivate me.

Perhaps I really should just stop teaching since so few want to learn. (Tonight out of 51 attending workshop, only 5 decided to learn)...the rest would just go on with their lives, without learning how to invest and investing blindly.

Majority choose NOT to learn from me, so why should I bother to continue sharing or teaching?
Cheers!

Yes Dennis what happen? Am so concern to see such email from you. Eventhough I may not contribute alot in the forum but it became a habit to go into forum n learn alot from all of you. And I admire that you have such great ambition to pass your knowledge to help all of us out here and to be honestly I don't think many ppl out there like you do this so sincerely. Most out there is for money.

Recently, I just went to climb mt kk.. Is really pushing my limits n will power. I guess my point is we always meet frustration at some point of time but is our persistency n passion to help others that keep us going. Am sure all of us greatly appreciate what you'd done and pass down to us and this forum.. I am not good in expressing my gratitude but I really really hope that you do not give up..
Hi, I am newbie and just graduated from Dennis's seminar last week. Hope to learn from all of you :)

Actually most importantly is what you believe. You believe that an average person like you can reach financial freedom so that's why you think all others can too just that lack of knowledge.. That's y you r doing this right :)

Hi Dennis,

I am not sure what happened at your seminar but you sounded very disappointed.

I just want to express my appreciation for your dedication towards helping others achieve financial freedom. You can actually just sit back and enjoy your financial freedom but you decided to come forward and educate the public.

After attending your one day seminar on "How to save and achieve 1 million dollars", I was convinced I met someone who truly care about the people you are teaching. I went on to attend your stock investment and property investment seminars.

Although not all will appreciate your sacrifice and efforts, there are definitely a good number who will. So don't be discourage.

Recently when I am in the process of investing in a TEP, you said:" I am treating this like investing Dennis's money, not your money. So I will source the best for you. I will not get you a TEP I will not invest in myself." I was very touched.

Just one thing I learn about free seminar is that some people don't take you seriously. There must be a cost and this will translate to motivation and eagerness to learn. So those who are willing to pay a small sum (which can be used to offset future seminars or give them your book after your talk) will more likely to learn and not waste your time. Just my suggestion.

Dennis, take care.

All about investing

Hi Dennis

Remembered you have thought us to believe in yourself, no matter what other say, you got to believe in you.
I believe I can fly
I believe I can touch the sky
I think about it every night and day
Spread my wings and fly away

You are definitely on the right path, eventhough sometimes is not as smooth as you want to be, but be able to fly take time, don't give up.
You are my most knowledgable 'sifu', thank you.

I understand how you feel Dennis. The same thing applies on my mentor as well. There’s time, he even give free advice and teaching to people to educate them on investing & others. Especially on value investing that can be apply on stocks, options, property and others.

However, most people dun follow, they got itchy fingers, can’t control their emotion and sell too early. Those people who follow him do make money over the long run. Those people know it. And I am also one of them.

A lot of people thought they are smart by reading books; they could be the next Warren Buffett or super investor. Please note that there are stuffs written on books that might not be applicable in the market and some contents are not truth as well.

Without someone with experience to guide them, they will learn the wrong stuffs.

Nevertheless, there are people paying hefty sum of money on some black box system or program due to their branding.

End of the day, who is making the money and having a comfort retirement, we will know it.

Hi Dennis,

Back to my twenties, I always wanted to learn about investment and financial knowledge but not sure what to learn, where to invest and who to learn from. Only until year 2007, when I started to read yr article on mypaper about investment, I noticed that you hv very good knowledge on investment and since then every alternate week, it becomes a habit that i must read yr news. I attended all the 3 seminars in year 2009 and have more understanding regardless on financial knowledge or investment, I really aprreciate and lucky to found someone to learn from.

Sometimes I will talk about financial literacy to my colleagues or relatives, but it seems to be not easy as their mind set are fixed. They either just dont bother or are reluctant to understand more of it. And this makes me more determine to help them to understand. Nowadays I started to teach my children on savings and what is the purpose of monies as they are still very young to understand this. But it is better to start young then later.

Hope you will not give up to help those who really need yr help on financial knowlege as it is true that may people around us are not aware on this and if we can help one more and this person may help another and so on.

Good day :)

Hi guys!

I think it's time for all of us who is hiding in the corner of the forum to "stand up" and say something. Some words of encouragement!
Let me begin

Since attending Dennis seminars, I have never look back! I believe all of us can feel the difference in his sincerity as compare to all other "gurus" out there. There are many who conduct seminars merely to make quick money but Dennis is the only one who wants his student to eternalize whatever he teach. He is the only one who cares and that make a great difference.

Now I am sharing his knowledge with my family. My dad will tune in to the radio and listen to him speaks, my sister starts reading his book and has benefit from buying silver. My mum knows about him now and is trying to make time to attend his seminar. We all benefit in one way or the other. I keep sharing with my love ones how this "master" has a great goal of helping one million people to achieved one million!

I believe all these things are happenning just that Dennis himself cannot see it. Not just me but I believe many students here are actively sharing his wisdom and spreading his teaching. Who doesn't get excited when they know acheiving one million is actually attainable!

Dennis, I believe you will achieved your goal! It's just a matter of time. Things are already happening even though you don't see it now:-)

When the time is ripe you will see your "fruit" and I believed the reward is infinite times the monetary reward you can ever get as it is priceless!

thank you all of you.

Last night I felt very tired and disappointed becos once again after I shared at the workshop, only a small minority took action, to learn to improve their financial future, 90% walked out without taking any further action.

I begin to question is it becos I'm not effective in teaching? Maybe someone else can do a better job at this than me? If so, maybe I should stop doing this. That why do I bother to want to help others change their financial future when they themselves are not interested or bother to do something about it?

That once again when I reached home late and my wife and children are already soundly asleep, that I asked why did I sacrifice precious time to be with them to be with the Public, when most people in the Public do NOT even bother to change or increase their financial knowledge?

Then the words of my sifus started repeating in my mind:"Dennis, you're just wasting your time trying to change the mindset of the average person out there..." And the problem is what he said seems to be true...

So I must say I'm very touched when I read some of the comments you have written, that how after you learned from me, that you started to teach/share and influence others, including family members and friends...becos really I cannot do this all by myself.

In order to help one million people achieve S$1,000,000, I need ALL of you (seminar graduates) to help to reach out to share/teach as well...

P.S. from my own experience, the best way to learn is to teach (share) what we know. Becos when we share, we crystallise our own knowledge/thinking...and moved our understanding to a higher level.

Now we have about 1,500 graduates, in 5 years' time, we aim to have 10,000, all it takes is each of you sharing/teaching 100 people, and that would be 1,000,000 people. And I'm quite certain that all of them can reach a million dollars in a matter of time. I reached mine in 15 years, some may take longer, some shorter, but I'm sure, we will all get there...

And I hope when we all become Richer, we also can do more for the Society, be it giving of our time, money or concern, to help the less fortunate in the society. My 5 years' goal is to be involved with ALL of you in setting up a S$100 million charitable foundation, which will devote to :

1. educating and empowering the Poor to teach them How to manage/plan their finances and to start small biz or self-employ to rise from Poverty.

2. providing Micro-financing to the Poor as after they have knowledge, they need money to start a small biz (eg. selling things on internet)...

And all these I really cannot do it on my own, I really need to count on the Support and Help of ALL Seminar graduates...

You are the "fuel" that will keep me going. Without your fuel, I really don't know how to find the strength to carry on this Mission.
Cheers!

Dennis, you have a noble and genuine heart.

Unfortunately some people really can't see it. Some may already have misconceptions towards seminars industry like how you just can't stand those fake gurus ripping off people's $ & time. Some just want free information hence they come to the workshop but not signing up to learn further.

As mentioned, the only living testimonies of your hard work are your graduates. I believe they know how genuine and sincere you are and most importantly what you teach works. Not to mention the unlimited support we got from you and each other through this forum. That is priceless!

Just like you, I too shared about the seminars to as many as my friends as possible. 2 of them rather pay for a branded bag which cost as much or even more expensive than your seminars. 1 of them wants to know what I learn (for free), after I shared a few learning points, she went ahead and do her own way anyway. That puzzled me even more.

One of them, I shared about silver, we were in front of the bank counter already as I was going to top up (that time silver was SGD 35++) and she CHOSE not to open account because don't want to queue and don't want to ask the staff about it and zillion of other excuses such as my family don't really invest in anything except properties .... !?!?!?!?!?! And that property happens to be the one that they are staying at the moment only + 2 high end cars.
-_______________________-"

Ah well ... there are more naysayers in this world anyway. It's a given, I guess. But finally when one of my friend signed up and join me for my revision, it did feel worthwhile and I genuinely feel happy she chose to educate herself.

Guess when someone shares about the truth, most will subconsciously choose to ignore it as it's too painful to follow. So, Dennis ... just follow your heart on this. As much as I would love to see you keep sharing and sacrificing your time but your family is also as important. Hope you are able to find some balance in your course to spread the hard truth. :)

Amazing Work

Post by sheiwah »

Hey Dennis!

I think you have been doing an amazing job! And amazing job takes a lot out of us. ;)

So what you need is really a sabbatical.

Here's for encouragement from the good book...

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Take a break to have more energy to move on

Post by AndrewNg »

Hi Dennis,
I am one that benefits from your training and is silently doing homework (a bit slow) but there is progress. Do allow me to share some thoughts with you. In fact i have similar frustration as you do about having a good intention to share but people are not interested and we lose our momentum and motivation. You knew i am in education line and when i started off, i wanted to share to as many students as possible about the subject i teach. I share with them all the benefits, most of them see the benefits but a few have the motivation to really learn. After a while, i found out most of the reasons always revolve around the following:

1 - topic is boring
2 - teacher do not know how to teach
3 - teacher do not know how to bring across in entertaining and humourous way
4 - topic too difficult to grasp and give up
5 - teacher have too high expectation, student freak out.
6 - student mindset problem and no interest in subject.

For issue 1 to 5, i put in a lot of extra effort after work to try and improve. Meet a lot of setback and at time, i even question myself why i need to learn how to be an entertainer to share something that is so valuable to students. They should be the one appreciating and treasuring the lesson. I feel so stupid as i am not even paid or recognized for that extra effort.
For issue 6, i still have no solution because this really have to come from the student.

Despite the setbacks, one thing that keeps me going is as long as 1 student appreciate and gets motivated to learn more, this one student is enough to motivate me to share more. My sharing with you is that you might want to consider take a rest, recharge and come back fully energized.

Another idea is you could pick those who are willing to learn, have that capacity to absorb more and have passion to teach. You can spend more time to train them so they can in turn train others. Maybe you can have a system that classify your knowledge into basic, intermediate and advance. You can train the trainer to a level where they can teach basic, or intermediate or advance. Then let that system grow organically instead of one person sharing to many people. This model of education works very well with Microsoft training and could be adapted to help you in your passion.
