Every year in America, tens of thousands of people died of normal flu (some may not be properly diagnosed), but no one pay attn. The focus is usually on unknown/new virus such as SARS, H5N1, H1N1, super-virus (New Delhi type), etc, which the total deaths could be less than normal flu. In the short term, these deadly new virus with limited spread (except H1N1) could affect tourism (eg. aerospace industry) and domestic market (people stays at home more often). In the mid term, unless the new virus can last for long, else it may not be a threat. When it happens, treat it as a major correction, an opportunity to buy stocks such as SIA.
There are risks everywhere everyday: new virus, Egypt, Euro debt, China inflation, etc. We need to learn to weigh the potential risk vs the potential gain. No risk no gain, calculated risk with far vision will help to increase the chances of winning in the long term.
