Re: What is counter-party risk?
Agreed. Perhaps for those interested in trading CFD, they can look for local brokerage firm that offers CFD, just to name a few, Lim and Tan, Kim Eng and Phillips. Counterparty risk definitely will be lesser as compared to those international firms. The disadvantage for using a local CFD brokerage ...

Re: What is counter-party risk?
What is counter-party risk? I don't fancy CFD of SGX stocks because they are not traded on a central exchange. Therefore, counterparty risk is relatively much higher. Agreed. Perhaps for those interested in trading CFD, they can look for local brokerage firm that offers CFD, just to name a few, Lim...

Re: Europe's tycoons join Buffett's chorus
Actually in sg, the higher u earn the higher tax u pay as a % of ur income.. So I think there's no need for this as in the west the rich are paying less taxes as % of their income compared to the lower income.. I believe the rich in the west realise that while the politicians are afraid to touch the...

Hi Dennis, I think what James was trying to say in his 1st post is that now there's a possibility that many new graduates are doubting market cycle strategy as many of them who came in late into the market have seen their profits evaporated and some also having losses.. This is understandable to me ...

I think Alvin hit the nail on our heads. While it's true this round those who bought at late stage and using market cycle investing lose money currently. It would appear that trading strategies worked in 2011. But this is after we know the results. But what if there is last rally, the market went up...

Agree with woonty.. I hope nobody take offence or have hard feelings when we have different views.. To stress again, we definitely do not purposely oppose one's view for nothing. There has to be a strong conviction to our belief and views when we do so.. Combined with hard data and research.. Actual...

Hi Dennis, I'm sure many of us here would be more than happy to help you out in your 'mission'.. However I believe that if we have not reached financial freedom ourselves.. How can we teach others? I think someone has posted this on your fb.. I think u also understand the difficulty of convincing ot...

I'd like to highlight 1 very important driver in our ppty mkt other than supply/demand thingy.. It's Sentiment.. Our mkt are more sentiment-driven than supply/demand driven.. While it's true that supply/demand played a big part, when sentiment turns.. supply/demand equation no longer important. As w...

Hi all.. was pleasantly surprised to see Dennis' announcement. Cos I did not feel my contribution was big enough.. Lots of other forumers also contributed more than me and I managed to learn from them all.. Anyway I take it that my sharing helped some people in the forum and I'm happy to know that :...

Re: Dennis' comments on Article: Beware the Silver Streak
After reading this report.. I can't help but wonder whether Barclay has huge short position in silver... It was reported that JP Morgan and HSBC have huge short silver position, maybe they will be the next banks that will write such analysis and hoping silver price will retreat After I read the &quo...

Thanks Alvin! Here's my idea: With reference to playing only the Big chips at 20% margin, I'm thinking of having Cash(long):CFD(short) ratio at 5:2 For eg, if my long investment portfolio was done at $50k, I will park opportunity fund at $20k for CFD(short). With a leverage of 5x, I can have $100k....
