now US$ is backed by nothing but just U.S. government debt and yet Investment textbooks still teach that interest rate on U.S. government bonds is "Risk Free Rate". My goodness!!! U.S. can print money anyhow becos US$ is Global Reserve Currency and almost everything in this world is price...

I guess a lot of the condo buyers are buying to stay. If they are, then now is the best time to buy isn't it to lock in the low interest rates (some banks offer fixed rates for 5 years). Furthermore, you can now choose the best units without much competition as a lot of potential buyers held back b...

Re: Sharp fall in property prices "possible"

Personally, if your property is a condo, I think you should sell because of the proven oversupply unless: a) it is near an MRT station (prices will not likely go down too much even if downturn), b) it is in a popular area (especially good schools - parents will ALWAYS pay for access to good schools ...

Re: Even MND Minister Khaw Boon Wan is worried Property Cras

The solution is a simple one. Raise interest rates. Instead, by releasing more land, oversupply is guaranteed. At the same time, we are forced to import workers (construction), leading to more crowded trains e.t.c. Focussing on these areas (constructing more and more units) is a waste of human and n...

Re: Property Devlopers need to release price update, good ne

I entirely agree. The prognosis on the property front looks very bad..interest rates are likely to trend up, european debt crisis continues (Portugal is already almost gone...Spain looks next, Ireland already on verge of defaulting and following the Iceland example). At least 3 of the Middle East C...

Re: Property Devlopers need to release price update, good ne

25 Mar 2011 My comment is please don't just listen to what people in property industry say, they like to keep launch price a secret until last minute. To me, this is unfair to home buyers, since we are talking about a Major Buying Decision that can involve millions of dollars....in my opinion, they...

Re: Key Question: Will you buy a Pte Property Now?

My opinion is that the only residential property worth buying currently is Landed Properties, while condos would face over-supply in the next 2 to 3 years. so you are saying dont buy residential pte condo until 2 to 3 years time, but buy landed now? i mean your opinion. ;) I'm not saying buy Landed...

Hi Dennis, Can one take an Equity Loan from a private property home? If can, then the portion paid by CPF would have to be excluded from the Equity loan tabulation, am I correct? If this is the case, what is the benefit of using CPF for private property home verses using CPF for private investment ...

Re: Saving Money Via the SRS by Dennis Ng

Hi Dennis: I have been contributing to SRS since its inception. I agree with you that it is a good scheme, primarily because of the tax savings. This year, I believe that the contribution limit will be increased, although details have not been released. This makes the scheme even more attractive, si...
