How to buy oil as commodity?

Post by LYX »

Dear Dennis sifu and all,

Just read a book 'Hot Commodities' by Jim Rogers and he recommends buying oil as stocks are depleting in the world.
Like to ask, how can we buy oil as commodity in Singapore?
Just searched on the Internet and it mentioned that there are oil futures traded in Singapore Merchantile Exchange, but that is not what what I was looking for.
Is it possible to trade oil in Singapore?
Thank you!

Strictly speaking, if you want to buy commodities, you have to do it through futures contract.

Not sensible if you intend to hold over a long period of time.

Next best alternative is to buy commodities index fund. You can take a look at Lyxor Commodities ETF is listed on SGX.
